2022 Totals: A year of working out on my elliptical while watching movies!

January - December 2022:

1,002.62 miles in 84 hours, 44 minutes (3 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes)
The miles are equivalent to a little over 38 marathons, averaging 3 marathons a month!
Exercised 203 days out of 365 (157 days elliptical; 70 days kettlebell)
Some days I did both elliptical and kettlebell, and some days I did one and not the other.
Watched 52 movies, 3 documentaries, and 3 TV shows (listed chronologically on my Miles of Movies 2022 IMDb list; see full list alphabetized in blog sidebar)
2.62 miles over year goal of 1,000 miles!
It's been a good year, the first full year on the elliptical! My husband had to make some adjustments to the machine this year, tightening screws due to use and lubricating when it got squeaky, but other than that is has held up great and hasn't been turned into a clothes rack!

I took time off this year, all of August due to extreme heat and Covid illness, and then another few weeks off between October and November; my year goal of 1,000 miles was still attainable and I pushed all of December to reach it, and I did!

Here's to 2023, another year on the elliptical and more movies I've never seen before!

Not sure of what my goal will be other than continue what I've been doing: stay active, keep working at weight loss (I ended this year with less weight than I started but I gained a few pounds back the past couple months), enjoy more movies, and reach at least 1,000 miles again.

Thursday 1/20/22: 4.33 Miles

Day 4 workout is done and so is the workout week! Today's Afternoon Workout: 4.33 miles on the elliptical in 21:58 minutes. Eight-minute warmup at resistance level 8, then one interval segment at resistance level 7 for 13:30 minutes, and the rest of the time was at resistance level 8. 10 intervals using the Gym Boss Interval Timer ; 20 seconds high intensity/fast, followed by 1 minute at a cool-down/slower pace. Fourth and final day of watching ' This Is Elvis ' from 1981, with archival footage of Elvis Presley! Today's movie segment included a final performance of 'My Way' six weeks before Elvis's death along with a montage! Thursday 6/2/22: 8.6 Miles

June workouts have begun with the first Howard Keel movie of the month featuring a tropical paradise -- Pagan Love Song ! Today's Afternoon Workout: 8.6 miles on the elliptical in 39:20 minutes. No intervals; entire time at resistance level 6. Extra: Morning kettlebell , 40 swings x 2 sets = 80 swings (8kg/17lb). First day of watching ' Pagan Love Song ' from 1950, starring Esther Williams, Howard Keel, and Minna Gombell. Today's segment included lots of pretty scenery and Howard Keel on a bicycle singing 'Singing in the Sun'! IMDb Movie Outline : A man from Ohio inherits a coconut plantation and falls in love with a half-American, half-Tahitian beauty. Song-and-swim musical ensues in the tropical paradise. #21 on my Miles of Movies 2022 list !

Friday 11/12/21: 3.03 Miles

Another week of working out is over and another Elvis movie ends on a happy musical note! Today's Workout: 3.03 miles on the elliptical in 14:01 minutes; the first 13:35 minutes were doing intervals at resistance level 8 and the rest of the time was a brisk pace at resistance level 8. 10 intervals using the Gym Boss Interval Timer ; 20 seconds high intensity/fast, followed by 1 minute at a cool-down/slower pace. Today's movie segment included the title song 'Kissin' Cousins' with two Elvises! Fifth and final day of watching 'Kissin' Cousins' from 1964, starring Elvis Presley, Arthur O'Connell, Jack Albertson, and Pamela Austin. Week 08/15/21: 12.5 Miles

Weekly Stats: 08/15/21 - 08/19/21: 12.5 miles on the elliptical in 1hr, 10min (Sunday - Thursday) Finished watching one movie from the previous week (Seven Brides for Seven Brothers from 1954) and got 27 minutes into a new movie (The Harvey Girls from 1946) This week was the first full week of doing shorter workouts of 10 high intensity intervals for 20 seconds followed by one minute at a slower pace using the Gym Boss Interval Timer ; it's nice to spend less time working out, but it will take time to tell if I get the results I want; I'll keep with it for four weeks and then reassess. This week's movies are #78 and #79 on my Miles of Movies 2021 IMDb list !

Tuesday 6/14/22: 8.38 Miles

Done with the first day of Week 3 of June workouts with this month's third Howard Keel musical -- Show Boat ! Today's Afternoon Workout: 8.38 miles on the elliptical in 37:04 minutes. 5-minute warmup at resistance level 7; then two interval segments at resistance level 6 & 5 for 13:30 minutes each; rest of the time at level 5. 20 intervals using the Gym Boss Interval Timer ; 20 seconds high intensity/fast, followed by 1 minute at a cool-down/slower pace. Weights: Morning kettlebell 40 swings x 3 sets = 120 swings (8kg/17lb). First day of watching ' Show Boat ' from 1951, starring Kathryn Grayson, Ava Gardner, and Howard Keel. Today's segment included Marge & Gower Champion performing the song-and-dance 'I Might Fall Back on You'!
