Saturday 6/11/22: 8.22 Miles

Done with Week 2 of May workouts and this month's second Howard Keel musical, Annie Get Your Gun!

Today's Morning Workout:

  • 8.22 miles on the elliptical in 35:23 minutes.
    • No intervals; entire time at resistance level 6.
  • Weights: Morning kettlebell
    • 30 swings x 2 sets = 60 swings (8kg/17lb). 
  • Third and final day of watching 'Annie Get Your Gun' from 1950, starring Betty Hutton, Howard Keel, and Louis Calhern. 
    • Today's segment included Betty Hutton and Howard Keel challenging each other in the classic battle-of-the-sexes song 'Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better'!

Thursday 6/2/22: 8.6 Miles

June workouts have begun with the first Howard Keel movie of the month featuring a tropical paradise -- Pagan Love Song ! Today's Afternoon Workout: 8.6 miles on the elliptical in 39:20 minutes. No intervals; entire time at resistance level 6. Extra: Morning kettlebell , 40 swings x 2 sets = 80 swings (8kg/17lb).  First day of watching ' Pagan Love Song ' from 1950, starring Esther Williams, Howard Keel, and Minna Gombell.  Today's segment included lots of pretty scenery and Howard Keel on a bicycle singing 'Singing in the Sun'! IMDb Movie Outline : A man from Ohio inherits a coconut plantation and falls in love with a half-American, half-Tahitian beauty. Song-and-swim musical ensues in the tropical paradise. #21 on my Miles of Movies 2022 list !

Wednesday 2/2/22: 10.05 Miles

A new month of working out has started along with a new movie -- Winter A-Go-Go from 1965! Today's Evening Workout: 10.05 miles on the elliptical in 46:16 minutes. Three-minute warmup at resistance level 9, then three interval segments at resistance level 8, level 7, and level 6 for 13:30 minutes each, and the rest of the time was at resistance level 6. 30 intervals using the Gym Boss Interval Timer ; 20 seconds high intensity/fast, followed by 1 minute at a cool-down/slower pace.  First day of watching ' Winter A-Go-Go ' from 1965, starring James Stacy, William Wellman Jr., and Beverly Adams. Today's movie segment included the opening credits with the title songs 'Winter A-Go-Go' sung by The Hondells! IMDb Movie Outline : Teenagers work, play and dance to rock 'n' roll at a Lake Tahoe ski lodge. #5 on my Miles of Movies 2022 list !

Wednesday 08/25/21: 2.4 Miles

Night 4 of working out this week is done -- only one night left! Tonight's workout: 2.4 miles on the elliptical in 13:35 minutes. 10 intervals using the Gym Boss Interval Timer ; 20 seconds high intensity/fast, followed by 1 minute at a cool-down/slower pace. Resistance Level 12 (medium high). Night 6 of 'The Harvey Girls' from 1946, a comedy/musical/western starring Judy Garland, Ray Bolger, Angela Lansbury. IMDb Movie Outline: On a train trip West to become a mail-order bride, Susan Bradley (Judy Garland) meets a cheery crew of young women travelling out to open a "Harvey House" restaurant at a remote whistle-stop. Day 2 of working out this week is done!  Today's workout: 2.48 miles on the elliptical in 13:36 minutes. 10 intervals using the Gym Boss Interval Timer ; 20 seconds high intensity/fast, followed by 1 minute at a cool-down/slower pace. Resistance Level 11 (medium high). Day 2 of watching 'James and the Giant Peach' from 1996, a mix of live action and animation; with Joanna Lumley, Pete Postlethwaite, and the voices of Simon Callow, Richard Dreyfuss, Jane Leeves, and Susan Sarandon. IMDb Movie Outline: An orphan who lives with his two cruel aunts befriends anthropomorphic bugs who live inside a giant peach, and they embark on a journey to New York City.
