Monday 3/28/22: 8.03 Miles

After a week off to focus on yardwork, workout week 4 of March has started with this month's fourth Fred Astaire movie -- Broadway Melody of 1940!

Today's Afternoon Workout:

  • 8.03 miles on the elliptical in 36:03 minutes.
    • 2-minute warmup at resistance level 7; then two interval segments at resistance level 6 & 5 for 13:30 minutes each; rest of the time at level 5.
      • 20 intervals using the Gym Boss Interval Timer; 20 seconds high intensity/fast, followed by 1 minute at a cool-down/slower pace. 
  • First day of watching 'Broadway Melody of 1940' from 1940, starring Fred Astaire, Eleanor Powell, and George Murphy.
    • Today's segment included the first number of the movie 'Please Don't Monkey with Broadway' performed by Fred Astaire and George Murphy!
      • IMDb Movie Outline: Johnny Brett and King Shaw are an unsuccessful dance team in New York. A producer discovers Brett as the new partner for Clare Bennett, but Brett, who thinks he is one of the people they lent money to gives him the name of his partner.

Friday 10/08/21: 2.62 Miles

It feels great to be done with another week of working out and another movie I had never seen before!  Today's Workout: 2.62 miles on the elliptical in 15:10 minutes; the first 13:35 minutes were doing intervals at resistance level 13 and the rest of the time was a steady pace at resistance level 14; the soundtrack was definitely the best part of the movie, along with aerobics/dance and a happy ending it made for a great movie while working out this week!  10 intervals using the Gym Boss Interval Timer ; 20 seconds high intensity/fast, followed by 1 minute at a cool-down/slower pace. Fifth and final day of watching 'Heavenly Bodies' from 1984, starring Cynthia Dale. IMDb Movie Outline: A small "Dance-ercize" studio fights for its existence against the unscrupulous owner of a rival club. The conflict boils down to a "Dance Marathon" to settle the score.
