Monday 10/25/21: 3.76 Miles

With the rain outside, I picked a jazzy music-filled French movie for week 4 of working out this October -- The Umbrellas of Cherbourg from 1964!  

Today's Workout:

  • 3.76 miles on the elliptical in 19:45 minutes; the first 13:35 minutes were doing intervals at resistance level 10 and the rest of the time was a brisk pace at resistance level 11; today's movie segment included the colorful title sequence featuring lots of umbrellas! 
    • 10 intervals using the Gym Boss Interval Timer; 20 seconds high intensity/fast, followed by 1 minute at a cool-down/slower pace.
  • First day of watching 'The Umbrellas of Cherbourg' from 1964, starring Catherine Deneuve, Nino Castelnuovo, and Anne Vernon.

Monday 1/17/22: 6.24 Miles

Week 3 of working out has started along with a new Elvis-themed film, the 1981 documentary ' This Is Elvis '! Today's Evening Workout: 6.24 miles on the elliptical in 30:08 minutes. One-minute warmup at resistance level 9, then two interval segments at resistance level 8 followed by level 7 for 13:30 minutes each, and the rest of the time was at resistance level 8. 20 intervals using the Gym Boss Interval Timer ; 20 seconds high intensity/fast, followed by 1 minute at a cool-down/slower pace.  First day of watching ' This Is Elvis ' from 1981, with archival footage of Elvis Presley! Today's movie segment included Elvis's first televised stage performance of 'Shake, Rattle, and Roll', and his hip-swiveling, leg-shaking performance of 'Hound Dog' on the Milton Berle Show! Monday 12/27/21: 5.04 Miles

The last week of working out in 2021 started today along with a new Fred Astaire movie -- Roberta from 1935! Today's Evening Workout: 5.04 miles on the elliptical in 26:58 minutes; ten-minute warmup at resistance level 9, then 13:35 minutes doing intervals at resistance level 8, and the rest of the time was at resistance level 9. 10 intervals using the Gym Boss Interval Timer ; 20 seconds high intensity/fast, followed by 1 minute at a cool-down/slower pace.  First day of watching 'Roberta' from 1935, starring Irene Dunne, Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, and Randolph Scott. Friday 11/12/21: 3.03 Miles

Another week of working out is over and another Elvis movie ends on a happy musical note!  Today's Workout: 3.03 miles on the elliptical in 14:01 minutes; the first 13:35 minutes were doing intervals at resistance level 8 and the rest of the time was a brisk pace at resistance level 8. 10 intervals using the Gym Boss Interval Timer ; 20 seconds high intensity/fast, followed by 1 minute at a cool-down/slower pace. Today's movie segment included the title song 'Kissin' Cousins' with two Elvises!  Fifth and final day of watching 'Kissin' Cousins' from 1964, starring Elvis Presley, Arthur O'Connell, Jack Albertson, and Pamela Austin. Friday May 14, 2021: 3.4 Miles

Today I finished 'The Iron Petticoat' from 1956 with Bob Hope and Katharine Hepburn; now I get the weekend to rest and figure out what to watch on Monday. I walked 3.4 miles on my treadmill in 40 minutes, with a break every 10 minutes for push-ups & squats totaling 40 of each.
