Tuesday 3/29/22: 8.36 Miles

Day 2 of the workout week is over and only one day left!

Today's Morning Workout:

  • 8.36 miles on the elliptical in 37:15 minutes.
    • 2-minute warmup at resistance level 7; then two interval segments at resistance level 6 & 5 for 13:30 minutes each; rest of the time at level 5.
      • 20 intervals using the Gym Boss Interval Timer; 20 seconds high intensity/fast, followed by 1 minute at a cool-down/slower pace. 
  • Second day of watching 'Broadway Melody of 1940' from 1940, starring Fred Astaire, Eleanor Powell, and George Murphy.
    • Today's segment included the upbeat tap number 'Jukebox Dance' featuring Fred Astaire and Eleanor Powell!
      • IMDb Movie Outline: Johnny Brett and King Shaw are an unsuccessful dance team in New York. A producer discovers Brett as the new partner for Clare Bennett, but Brett, who thinks he is one of the people they lent money to gives him the name of his partner.

Tuesday 11/02/21: 3.98 Miles

Done with Day 2 of working out with Elvis!  Today's Workout: 3.98 miles on the elliptical in 20:22 minutes; the first 13:35 minutes were doing intervals at resistance level 10 and the rest of the time was a brisk pace at resistance level 11. 10 intervals using the Gym Boss Interval Timer ; 20 seconds high intensity/fast, followed by 1 minute at a cool-down/slower pace. Today's movie segment included the songs 'This is Living' and 'Riding the Rainbow'! Second day of watching 'Kid Galahad' from 1962, starring Elvis Presley, Gig Young, and Charles Bronson. IMDb Movie Outline: After completing his military service, Walter Gulick takes a job as a sparring partner at a gym, the owner of which sees potential in Walter as a professional fighter and takes him under his wing. Friday 10/08/21: 2.62 Miles

It feels great to be done with another week of working out and another movie I had never seen before!  Today's Workout: 2.62 miles on the elliptical in 15:10 minutes; the first 13:35 minutes were doing intervals at resistance level 13 and the rest of the time was a steady pace at resistance level 14; the soundtrack was definitely the best part of the movie, along with aerobics/dance and a happy ending it made for a great movie while working out this week!  10 intervals using the Gym Boss Interval Timer ; 20 seconds high intensity/fast, followed by 1 minute at a cool-down/slower pace. Fifth and final day of watching 'Heavenly Bodies' from 1984, starring Cynthia Dale. IMDb Movie Outline: A small "Dance-ercize" studio fights for its existence against the unscrupulous owner of a rival club. The conflict boils down to a "Dance Marathon" to settle the score.
