Tuesday 1/25/22: 7.03 Miles

Done with day 1 of working out this last week of January with a final Elvis documentary -- Elvis: That's the Way It Is!

Today's Afternoon Workout:

  • 7.03 miles on the elliptical in 33:31 minutes.
    • Five-minute warmup at resistance level 9, then two interval segments at resistance level 8 and then level 7 for 13:30 minutes each, and the rest of the time was at resistance level 8.
      • 20 intervals using the Gym Boss Interval Timer; 20 seconds high intensity/fast, followed by 1 minute at a cool-down/slower pace. 
  • First day of watching 'Elvis: That's the Way It Is' from 1970, with archival footage of Elvis Presley!
    • Today's movie segment included the opening credits with the songs 'Mystery Train' and 'Tiger Man', plus lots of other music during behind-the-scenes rehearsal sessions!

Day 4 workout session is done and only one day to go!  Today's Workout: 4.43 miles on the elliptical in 22:11 minutes; the first 13:35 minutes were doing intervals at resistance level 10 and the rest of the time was a brisk pace at resistance level 9. 10 intervals using the Gym Boss Interval Timer ; 20 seconds high intensity/fast, followed by 1 minute at a cool-down/slower pace. Today's movie segment included the songs 'Barefoot Ballad' and 'Once is Enough'!  Fourth day of watching 'Kissin' Cousins' from 1964, starring Elvis Presley, Arthur O'Connell, Jack Albertson, and Pamela Austin. Thursday 1/20/22: 4.33 Miles

Day 4 workout is done and so is the workout week! Today's Afternoon Workout: 4.33 miles on the elliptical in 21:58 minutes. Eight-minute warmup at resistance level 8, then one interval segment at resistance level 7 for 13:30 minutes, and the rest of the time was at resistance level 8. 10 intervals using the Gym Boss Interval Timer ; 20 seconds high intensity/fast, followed by 1 minute at a cool-down/slower pace.  Fourth and final day of watching ' This Is Elvis ' from 1981, with archival footage of Elvis Presley! Today's movie segment included a final performance of 'My Way' six weeks before Elvis's death along with a montage! Thursday 12/23/21: 5.91 Miles

My 4-day workout week is over and so is Top Hat! Today's Evening Workout: 5.91 miles on the elliptical in 31:3 minutes; ten-minute warmup at resistance level 9, then 13:35 minutes doing intervals at resistance level 8, and the rest of the time was at resistance level 9. 10 intervals using the Gym Boss Interval Timer ; 20 seconds high intensity/fast, followed by 1 minute at a cool-down/slower pace.  Fourth and final day of watching 'Top Hat' from 1935, starring Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, and Edward Everett Horton. Today's movie segment included misunderstandings getting resolved in a happy ending with Fred and Ginger dancing 'The Piccolino', and Ginger singing it too! Thursday 6/2/22: 8.6 Miles

June workouts have begun with the first Howard Keel movie of the month featuring a tropical paradise -- Pagan Love Song ! Today's Afternoon Workout: 8.6 miles on the elliptical in 39:20 minutes. No intervals; entire time at resistance level 6. Extra: Morning kettlebell , 40 swings x 2 sets = 80 swings (8kg/17lb).  First day of watching ' Pagan Love Song ' from 1950, starring Esther Williams, Howard Keel, and Minna Gombell.  Today's segment included lots of pretty scenery and Howard Keel on a bicycle singing 'Singing in the Sun'! IMDb Movie Outline : A man from Ohio inherits a coconut plantation and falls in love with a half-American, half-Tahitian beauty.
