Tuesday 11/02/21: 3.98 Miles

Done with Day 2 of working out with Elvis! 

Today's Workout:

  • 3.98 miles on the elliptical in 20:22 minutes; the first 13:35 minutes were doing intervals at resistance level 10 and the rest of the time was a brisk pace at resistance level 11.
    • 10 intervals using the Gym Boss Interval Timer; 20 seconds high intensity/fast, followed by 1 minute at a cool-down/slower pace.
  • Today's movie segment included the songs 'This is Living' and 'Riding the Rainbow'!

    • Second day of watching 'Kid Galahad' from 1962, starring Elvis Presley, Gig Young, and Charles Bronson.
      • IMDb Movie Outline: After completing his military service, Walter Gulick takes a job as a sparring partner at a gym, the owner of which sees potential in Walter as a professional fighter and takes him under his wing.

Day 2 of working out this week is done, and I'm looking forward to seeing how the movie ends! Tuesday 6/14/22: 8.38 Miles

Done with the first day of Week 3 of June workouts with this month's third Howard Keel musical -- Show Boat ! Today's Afternoon Workout: 8.38 miles on the elliptical in 37:04 minutes. 5-minute warmup at resistance level 7; then two interval segments at resistance level 6 & 5 for 13:30 minutes each; rest of the time at level 5. 20 intervals using the Gym Boss Interval Timer ; 20 seconds high intensity/fast, followed by 1 minute at a cool-down/slower pace. Weights: Morning kettlebell 40 swings x 3 sets = 120 swings (8kg/17lb).  First day of watching ' Show Boat ' from 1951, starring Kathryn Grayson, Ava Gardner, and Howard Keel. Today's segment included Marge & Gower Champion performing the song-and-dance 'I Might Fall Back on You'! IMDb Movie Outline : The daughter of a riverboat captain falls in love with a charming gambler, but their fairy tale romance is threatened after his luck turns sour. #23 on my Miles of Movies 2022 list !

Tuesday 09/28/21: 3.26 Miles

Day 2 of working out is done!  Today's Workout: 3.26 miles on the elliptical in 19:29 minutes; the first 13:30 minutes were doing intervals at resistance level 12 and the rest of the time was a steady pace at resistance level 13; today's movie segment included the title song 'Tea for Two'. 10 intervals using the Gym Boss Interval Timer ; 20 seconds high intensity/fast, followed by 1 minute at a cool-down/slower pace. Second day of watching 'Tea for Two' from 1950, starring Doris Day, Gordon MacRae and Gene Nelson.  IMDb Movie Outline: A socialite with aspirations of a career in show business bets her wealthy uncle $25,000 that she can say "no" to everything for two days straight, hoping winning will help her fulfill her dreams. I'm starting May workouts with a sailor-themed Fred & Ginger movie from the 1930s featuring songs from Irving Berlin -- Follow the Fleet ! Today's Noontime Workout: 8.17 miles on the elliptical in 37:14 minutes. 5-minute warmup at resistance level 7; then two interval segments at resistance level 6 & 5 for 13:30 minutes each; rest of the time at level 5. 20 intervals using the Gym Boss Interval Timer ; 20 seconds high intensity/fast, followed by 1 minute at a cool-down/slower pace.  First day of watching ' Follow the Fleet ' from 1936, starring Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, and Randolph Scott. Today's segment included Ginger Rogers singing 'Let Yourself Go' followed by a dance with Fred Astaire to the same tune!
