Thursday 1/20/22: 4.33 Miles

Day 4 workout is done and so is the workout week!

Today's Afternoon Workout:

  • 4.33 miles on the elliptical in 21:58 minutes.
    • Eight-minute warmup at resistance level 8, then one interval segment at resistance level 7 for 13:30 minutes, and the rest of the time was at resistance level 8.
      • 10 intervals using the Gym Boss Interval Timer; 20 seconds high intensity/fast, followed by 1 minute at a cool-down/slower pace. 
  • Fourth and final day of watching 'This Is Elvis' from 1981, with archival footage of Elvis Presley!
    • Today's movie segment included a final performance of 'My Way' six weeks before Elvis's death along with a montage!
      • IMDb Movie Outline: The life and career of Elvis Presley are chronicled in home movies, concert footage, and dramatizations. Subjects include early performances, army service, Ed Sullivan Show appearance, marriage, 1968 comeback, health decline and death.

December 2021 Totals: Elliptical 94.13 miles in 8 hours, 5 minutes, 13 seconds Exercised 21 days during month out of 31 Watched 4 full movies (Three Little Words 1950; The Barkleys of Broadway 1949; Top Hat 1935; Roberta 1935); finished 1 movie started in November (A Damsel in Distress 1937) December movies are listed as #93 through #97 on my Miles of Movies 2021 list !

Thursday 6/16/22: 7.8 Miles

Done with the workout week and this month's third Howard Keel musical,  Show Boat ! Today's Morning Workout: 7.80 miles on the elliptical in 35:48 minutes. No intervals; entire time at resistance level 6. Weights: Morning kettlebell 40 swings x 3 sets = 120 swings (8kg/17lb).  Third and final day of watching ' Show Boat ' from 1951, starring Kathryn Grayson, Ava Gardner, and Howard Keel. IMDb Movie Outline : The daughter of a riverboat captain falls in love with a charming gambler, but their fairy tale romance is threatened after his luck turns sour. #23 on my Miles of Movies 2022 list !

Thursday 11/11/21: 4.43 Miles

Day 4 workout session is done and only one day to go!  Today's Workout: 4.43 miles on the elliptical in 22:11 minutes; the first 13:35 minutes were doing intervals at resistance level 10 and the rest of the time was a brisk pace at resistance level 9. 10 intervals using the Gym Boss Interval Timer ; 20 seconds high intensity/fast, followed by 1 minute at a cool-down/slower pace. Today's movie segment included the songs 'Barefoot Ballad' and 'Once is Enough'!  Fourth day of watching 'Kissin' Cousins' from 1964, starring Elvis Presley, Arthur O'Connell, Jack Albertson, and Pamela Austin. IMDb Movie Outline: An Army officer returns to the Smoky Mountains and tries to convince his kinfolk to allow the Army to build a missile site on their land.
